Grants

Gov. Mike Pence has announced more than $9 million in grants to local schools and school corporations to improve school safety.

The grants, through the Secured School Safety Grant program, were approved by the Indiana Secured School Safety Board, the governor’s office said.

The program provides matching grants to school corporations, charter schools or coalitions seeking to employ a school resource officer, conduct a threat assessment or to purchase equipment to restrict access or to expedite notification of first responders.

Northeast Indiana grants include:

Adams

•Adams Central School Corporation received $38,450 for school security equipment and to employ a school resource officer.

•North Adams Community Schools received $50,000 for school security equipment and to employ a school resource officer.

•South Adams Schools received $21,600 for school security equipment and to employ a school resource officer.

Allen

•East Allen County Schools received $50,000 for school security equipment and to employ a school resource officer.

•Fort Wayne Community Schools received $50,000 to employ a school resource officer.

•Southwest Allen County Schools received $50,000 for school security equipment.

Northwest Allen County Schools received $50,000 for school security equipment.

DeKalb

•DeKalb County Central United School District received $50,000 for school security equipment.

•Garrett-Keyser-Butler Community School District received $50,000 for school security equipment.

Huntington

•Huntington County Community School Corporation received $50,000 for school security equipment.

Kosciusko

•Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation received $50,000 for school security equipment.
