Caps groundskeeper earns Class-A Sports Turf Manager of the Year

TinCaps groundskeeper Keith Winter is the best in the business at the Class-A level of baseball.

Winter, who has three Midwest League Sports Turf Manager/Grounds Crew of the Year awards to his name already, was recognized on the national level Thursday. He earned the Sports Turf Manager Association's Sports Turf Manager of the Year award.

Winter was among 60 turf managers up for the award in Class-A baseball. He will be presented with the award Dec. 9 during baseball winter meetings in Orlando, Fla.

"What I'm really proud of is the commitment from the grounds crew and the organization in their dedication to having a high-quality playing surface at Parkview Field. We think we have one of the best facilities in Minor League Baseball and we're glad to be recognized for that on a national level," Winter said in a statement. "I share this award with all of the people in our organization."
