3 key players
Sasha Chaplin, GS, C: Chaplin was fourth on the team in scoring (6.1 points per game) and fifth in rebounding (4.1) despite playing just 15.1 minutes per game. When healthy, she’s a key piece for the Hoosiers.
Kaila Hulls, RS So., G: The 5-11 Bloomington native posted a double-double during the team’s first exhibition game. She is coming off an anterior cruciate ligament tear that prevented her from playing last season.
Larryn Brooks, Fr., G: The 5-5 Brooks averaged 20 points, four assists, four rebounds and four steals during her senior year of high school.
2 points of concern
Perimeter shooting: IU loses Aulani Sinclair, a 1,000-point scorer for the Hoosiers and the team’s leader in three-point field goals made and three-point field goal percentage. Sophomore guard Nicole Bell should help shore up the shooting woes up.
Injury issues: Chaplin and Hulls have histories of injuries, and they figure to be two of the bigger contributors this season.
1 major concern
Youth movement: Outside of Brooks, IU will expect a lot out of freshmen Taylor Agler, Jenn Anderson, Karlee McBride, Lyndsay Leikem and Alexis Gassion. The development of those young players could be the tipping point for IU this year.
