Warsaw plant with 110 workers to close

PolyOne Designed Structures and Solutions will close a Warsaw plastics factory next year, putting 110 people out of work.

The Cleveland-based company will cut jobs in stages, beginning in early January and ending about Sept. 30, according to a WARN filing received Thursday by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act requires companies planning mass firings or layoffs to notify state and local officials at least 60 days before the effective date.

PolyOne acquired Spartech Corp. in March in a deal that included the Warsaw operation. PolyOne officials said at the time they would look for opportunities to improve efficiency and cut costs by eliminating redundant operations.
