That's a good K's line

For the seventh time in their eight games this season, the Komets have held a lead.

But it's tied at 1 after one period with the Wheeling Nailers tonight at Memorial Coliseum.

The Komets took a lead at 8:57 -- though the goal was credited to Brandon Marino, it clearly was Scott Fleming -- and it came after a bit of controversy.

Fleming knocked the puck off the inside of goaltender Mike Condon's right leg and it crept inside the left goalpost. Referee Nic Leduc waved it off, but the goal judge corrected him.

(The ECHL's head of officials, vice president of hockey operations Joe Ernst, is in the building.)

Wheeling tied it at 19:10, though, on a goal by Denver Manderson, who was left alone in front of the net.

Wheeling has outshot Fort Wayne 14-8.

The CBS line of Chris Auger, Brandon Marino and Scott Fleming is awfully good.
