Dad charged after girl ingests drugs

A father faces a felony charge after his daughter ingested prescription painkillers that he had allegedly obtained illegally.

Jehova Solis, 30, was charged Thursday with neglect of a dependent.

On Aug. 16, Solis’ daughter swallowed seven OxyContin pills that he had gotten illegally, according to court papers.

He called 911 and medics came to care for his daughter. Court papers did not disclose the girl’s age or her condition after taking the pills.

Solis told police the pills were in a plastic bag in his phone case that he had left on a ledge, within reach of his daughter, court papers said.

Solis, of the 10700 block of U.S. 27, was not in custody Thursday at the Allen County Jail.
