House gutted by fire; no injuries

A house southwest of downtown Fort Wayne incurred moderate fire and smoke damage after a blaze Friday, officials said.

Firefighters were called to 1023 Home Ave. shortly after 2 p.m. When crews arrived, they found smoke coming from the front and back of the two-story house.

A resident and pet got out of the house safely, the fire department said.

The fire was in a first-floor bedroom and the cause has not been determined, officials said.
