Ohio State talks some smack

Everybody understands what's going on in Columbus, Ohio, these days: Ohio State is trying to junk-talk its way from No. 3 to No. 2 and reach the BCS title game, because that's the only way it's gonna happen.

Let's face it: They're the biggest bully on a one-bully block, or maybe a one-and-a-half bully block. Right now the Big Ten is as meh as it has been in recent memory; outside of the Buckeyes, there are only two other Big Ten schools in the latest BCS rankings, and Michigan State is 16th and Wisconsin 22nd. Mid-American Conference school Northern Illinois ranks ahead of both of them.

But Urban Meyer yaps and one of his wide receivers, Evan Spencer, brags about how the Buckeyes would "wipe the field" with No. 1 Alabama or No. 2 Florida State, and yeah-yeah-yeah, sure-sure-sure. The bottom line is the Buckeyes have gotten fat in a lean conference, and they have nothing left that will boost their status: A home game against 4-5 Indiana, and a road game at Michigan, which is 6-3 and sinking fast, having lost three of its last four games.

So ... yeah. The Buckeyes have to hope 'Bama or Florida State loses. Until or unless that happens, all they can do is talk.
