NASCAR: J.J. on the brink

And now a regular Blob public service, aka your NASCAR update for the week, in three easy-to-follow parts ...

1. Yes, they're still racing.

2. But there's only one race left now.

3. And Jimmie Johnson, by virtue of his third-place finish at Phoenix, is now 28 points ahead of Matt Kenseth, who finished 23rd. This means J.J. basically can just drive around like a little old lady next week and still lock up his sixth Sprint Cup title.

Condolences to all of you who are sick and tired of Jimmie Johnson. And kudos to all of you who are fans because A) the guy's just good, face it, and B) he's not a horse's patoot about it.
