Jay County man dies in Mercer crash

A Portland, Ind., man died this morning in a car-truck crash in Mercer County, Ohio, the Mercer County sheriff said tonight.

Ronald Albers, 56, died at the scene of the 6:08 a.m. crash at Ohio 29 and Ohio 118 North, Sheriff Jeff Grey said in a statement.

The statement said a semi driven south on Ohio 118 by Robert Riley, 54, of Fort Jennings, Ohio, failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection.

Albers' Hyundai was eastbound on Ohio 29 and collided with the semi, the statement said.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
