  • AHL could be coming to town
There is a possibility the American Hockey League's Lake Erie Monsters and Grand Rapids Griffins will play an exhibition game at Memorial Coliseum on Oct. 4.
  • Szydlowski returns to Komets
Right wing Shawn Szydlowski has agreed to terms and will return to the Komets in 2014-15, the club announced today.
  • A goalie guess; look at lines
Roman Will would seem to be the most likely fit to wind up in the ECHL as a goalie, but he's spent the last two seasons in the Czech Republic after an impressive junior career in Moncton. If I had to guess, it would be him.

Trade on horizon for K's

Two sources have told The Journal Gazette that the Komets have acquired forward Brett Lyon from the Bakersfield Condors.

Komets officials declined to comment.

I don't know what the Komets gave up, but based on what I'm hearing it sounds like it was for cash, not a player.

Lyon, 22, is scoreless with 18 penalty minutes in four games with Bakersfield this season. He has also played one game with Abbotsford of the American Hockey League.

Last season, with Bakersfield and Orlando of the ECHL, he had five goals, 10 points and 190 penalty minutes.

This would give the Komets another tough guy; Lyon had 22 fighting majors last season. He is 6-foot-2, 195 pounds.
