Consistently inconsistent

The mantra of this season should be, "Komets hockey: Consistently Inconsistent."

The Komets have twice blown leads tonight against the Greenville Road Warriors, but Fort Wayne currently has the 3-2 lead after two periods thanks to a Bobby Hughes goal off a rebound.

Hughes has scored twice. Scott Fleming has the other Fort Wayne goal.

Remember, on Friday night, the Komets defeated Toledo Walleye 5-4 in overtime, after coughing up a three-goal lead and, later, a one-goal lead.

The Komets have held leads in 10-of-11 games this season, including this one, but won only four times.

Justin A. Cohn, pro sports coordinator for The Journal Gazette, has been covering the Fort Wayne Komets since 1997.
