Man charged with child molesting caught after 7 years on the run

A man evading child molesting charges for the past seven years was arrested early Saturday morning in a Steuben County motel room, according to a statement from the Indiana State Police.

Terry Wayne Waugh, Jr., 30, of St. Joesph County was charged there with four counts of child molesting: One Class A felony, one Class B felony and two Class C felonies.

Waugh has been wanted in St. Joesph County for seven years, police said, until he was recently located in a motel in the 3800 block of north State Road 127, near Pokagon State Park in Steuben County.

Police arrested Waugh shortly after midnight on Friday when they descended upon the motel and found him hiding in the bathroom of one of the motel rooms.

Waugh eventually gave himself up without incident, police said, and was taken into custody.

He is in the Steuben County Jail awaiting transportation back to St. Joseph County.

The U.S. Marshall Service indicated Waugh had been on the run from St. Joseph County for seven years.

Questions concerning his charges should be directed to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office.
