Key matchup: The Sycamores will need to find away to slow down the Irish’s Grant, a 6-foot-5, 203-pound senior guard. Grant scored a team-high 26 points in a 74-62 season-opening win over Miami (Ohio) on Nov. 8 and matched Garrick Sherman with a team-high 15 points in an 80-49 win over Stetson on Nov. 10. He has hit 65 percent of his shots and 63.6 percent on 3-pointers. Indiana State will likely call on Jake Odum, a 6-4, 180-pound senior guard, and Manny Arop, a 6-5, 215-pound senior guard, to help slow down Grant.

The skinny: Notre Dame has won both previous matchups against Indiana State, beating the Sycamores 81-72 at home in 2010 and 66-49 at home in 1947. … The Irish are playing a third straight home game to open the season. … Indiana State is playing its second road game in a row after losing 96-95 against Belmont on Thursday in Nashville, Tenn. … Notre Dame freshman and former New Haven standout V.J.
