Indiana State leaders: Jake Odum (20 ppg), Odum (4.5 rpg), Odum (6 apg)
Key matchup: The Sycamores will need to find away to slow down the Irish’s Grant, a 6-foot-5, 203-pound senior guard. Grant scored a team-high 26 points in a 74-62 season-opening win over Miami (Ohio) on Nov. 8 and matched Garrick Sherman with a team-high 15 points in an 80-49 win over Stetson on Nov. 10. He has hit 65 percent of his shots and 63.6 percent on 3-pointers. Indiana State will likely call on Jake Odum, a 6-4, 180-pound senior guard, and Manny Arop, a 6-5, 215-pound senior guard, to help slow down Grant.
The skinny: Notre Dame has won both previous matchups against Indiana State, beating the Sycamores 81-72 at home in 2010 and 66-49 at home in 1947. The Irish are playing a third straight home game to open the season. Indiana State is playing its second road game in a row after losing 96-95 against Belmont on Thursday in Nashville, Tenn. Notre Dame freshman and former New Haven standout V.J. Beachem averaged 1.5 points and 2 rebounds in 6.5 minutes in the first two games.
