Fewer than 1,000 customers still without power

Four hundred twenty-six Fort Wayne area customers remained without power this afternoon from Sunday's storms, Indiana Michigan Power said tonight.

I&M said customers in the Avilla area have been restored, and the remaining customers in the Fort Wayne area without power are expected to be restored by noon Wednesday.

Northern Indiana Public Service Co. said 69 northeast Indiana customers were without power, including 32 in Waterloo. It said the majority of customers would be restored by Wednesday night, with some customers in the hardest-hit areas restored Thursday.

Kosciusko REMC said this morning that six of its members were without power, as the REMC waits for broken transmission poles to be replaced by another utility.
