Balanced Archers girls top Chargers

– South Side used double-digit scoring efforts from Chelsea Rogers (13), Lakesha Stephens (14), Maria Moore (12) and leading scorer Lakyn Gulley (16) to roll to a 69-48 girls basketball win Friday over Carroll.

Madison Peterson had a game-high 21 points for Carroll, but the Archers gave up just five points in the second quarter to pull away.

WEST NOBLE 66, HAMILTON 31: Kelsie Peterson had a game-high 20 points and hit 12 of 13 free throws for the Chargers. Becca Schermerhorn added 14 points for West Noble.

ANGOLA 62, EASTSIDE 42: Claire Grubb had 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting as well as six rebounds, five assists and six steals to lead the Hornets.

GARRETT 49, DeKALB 40: Brandi Dawson scored 24 points, including 13 in the second quarter, to push the Railroaders past the Barons.

EAST NOBLE 61, NORTH SIDE 55: Kourtney and Kavan Edwards had 17 and 18 points, respectively, for the Knights in a close-fought game. Sierra Miranda of North Side had a game-high 28 points, including six 3-pointers, for the Redskins.

NORWELL 71, BLUFFTON 29: Laken Chaney (13), Stephanie Conrad (13), Hanna Smith (14) and Kaycee Strunk (10) all scored in double figures for the Knights.

WHITKO 57, HUNTINGTON NORTH 51: Aly Reiff had 21 points and 18 rebounds as the Wildcats squeaked by the Vikings. Paige Coolman had a near double-double with 17 points and eight rebounds for Huntington North.

BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 52, ADAMS CENTRAL 44: Olivia Byler had a game-high 20 points for her Braves against the Flying Jets. Gabbie Jolley and Mariah Moonen scored 10 apiece for Blackhawk Christian.
