Ants see comeback fall short in Texas

The Mad Ants made another late comeback Saturday but couldn’t draw close enough as the Texas Legends posted a 106-99 win at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas.

Fort Wayne (0-2) trailed 57-43 at halftime after a second straight slow start, and the Mad Ants faced an 18-point deficit entering the fourth quarter against Texas (2-0). Ron Howard, also known as Mr. Mad Ant, had his second 20-point performance in as many games and finished with 26 to lead all scorers. He also had five assists, a team high, and five rebounds in a team-high 38 minutes.

Fresh off a season-opening double-double, Poland native Aleksander Czyz nearly had another Saturday, with 14 points and nine rebounds. Trey McKinney Jones (14), and Anthony Harris (10) also scored in double figures for Fort Wayne.

The Mad Ants couldn’t stop Devin Ebanks and Chris Douglas-Roberts. Ebanks had a second-straight double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds, while Douglas-Roberts, who hit the game-winning free throws in a 100-99 Texas win over Fort Wayne on Friday, had 22 points, five rebounds and six assists.

Sean Singletary went 12 for 12 at the free throw line for the Legends and finished with 20 points, four assists, three steals and five rebounds. Terrel Harris went 3 for 4 on 3-pointers en route to 19 points against the Mad Ants.
