  • K's continue dominance of Wings
Right wing Garrett Meurs scored in a second straight game, and the Komets defeated the Kalamazoo Wings 4-1 today at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo, Mich.
  • Some must-read stuff
Komets coach Gary Graham arranges competitions within practices to determine the best breakaway players on his team. And while it's not as risqué as it sounds, one of the games is “strip shootout.”

Tuzzolino comments on being traded

The Komets have traded their captain, Nick Tuzzolino, to the Elmira Jackals for defenseman Jordon Southorn.

They also waived Matt Firman and placed Brett Lyon on suspension. (I will find out why on Lyon shortly.)

Here is what Tuzzolino had to say...

"It was definitely shocking to say the least. I had a couple conversations in the last couple of days with (coach Gary Graham) and (general manager David Franke). But nothing was pointing to this. Obviously, the boys picked up a big (5-4) win in Evansville last night after Gary called out a couple of the guys. This is what they went with. It's a business. What can I say? The crap rolls downhill sometimes."

On having to uproot his family:

"It's not going to be easy. When women decorate an apartment or house, they do it to the fullest. She's a hockey player's wife and understands."

Did he deserve this?

"At the end of the day, it is a business. It's a city that needs a good hockey club here. When you're sliding or there are a couple hiccups, they've got to make their move or statements when they can. I'm sure some fans think it's a good move and if it rejuvenates the team, it's a good move. I feel like I let down Dave and Gary."
