FWCS bus drivers get 2 percent pay increase

Bus drivers at Fort Wayne Community Schools will receive a 2 percent pay increase as part of a two-year agreement approved by the drivers’ union and the school district.

On Monday, FWCS school officials approved a two-year agreement with the Teamsters Local 141 representing the district’s approximately 260 bus drivers.

The 2 percent base wage increase will be applied retroactively beginning July 1, 2013 and employees will receive the additional funds on the Dec. 6 payroll, officials said.

For bus drivers with a permanent route, starting pay is $16.86 per hour, according to FWCS spokeswoman Krista Stockman. Substitute bus drivers are paid $11 per hour.
