Boyfriend was shot to death, coroner says

Masterson

A man who was found dead Sunday night inside a house in the 7400 block of Placer Run was shot to death, the Allen County Coroner's Office said Monday.

His girlfriend told police she found him inside the single-story house, police said for an earlier story.

The coroner's office identified the man as Demetrius Lamar Masterson, 29. His death was declared a homicide, the 42nd in Allen County so far this year. All but two of the year's homicides have occurred in Fort Wayne.

The police received a call about 7:40 p.m. from the girlfriend, who had arrived home and said she discovered the body.

Masterson in 2006 was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a stolen handgun, dealing marijuana, three counts of dealing cocaine and five counts of possession of a controlled substance, according to Journal Gazette archives.
