Dons make early lead stand up, whip Owls

– Pierre Bland scored 23 points in a stellar performance as IPFW cruised to a 76-66 win over Kennesaw State on Sunday.

Bland had a field day shooting, hitting 7 of 7 from the field and going 8 for 8 from the free-throw line. Bland also contributed six assists, six rebounds, and had three steals. Joe Reed added 16 points and Luis Jacobo scored 11 for the Mastodons.

IPFW (5-2) jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and never allowed Kennesaw State (2-5) to close the gap taking a 40-29 point advantage into the break.

The Mastodons stretched the gap to 19 points late in the second half before the Owls were able to narrow the final deficit to 10 points.

Nigel Pruitt led the Owls in scoring with 15 points and Yonel Brown finished the game with 11 points and seven assists.
