2 nonprofits announce merger

FinancialHope Counseling and Education announced Tuesday a merger with Money Management International of Sugar Land, Texas.

The two nonprofit organizations specialize in financial counseling, coaching, debt management assistance and community financial education programs. FinancialHope, formally Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Northeastern Indiana, has assisted Indiana residents since 1965.

“This partnership represents our commitment to providing our local community and clients with the highest quality consumer credit counseling services and financial education,” Joe Schenkel, president and CEO of FinancialHope, said in a statement. “By combining resources with MMI, we are able to reach more consumers and offer more programs and services more effectively.”

The combined organizations will have nearly 100 branch offices nationwide and around-the-clock assistance by telephone and Internet.

Local offices will continue to operate in Fort Wayne, Warsaw, Auburn and Huntington.
