Northrop coach shaves head in support

NEW HAVEN – Barak Coolman has been sporting a new hairstyle this season.

The Northrop boys basketball coach shaved his head to where he just has a little bit of stubble left on top.

Coolman did it in support of his mother-in-law, who is battling stage 4 breast cancer.

"She is holding on," Coolman said. "So it was one of those things where she is bald, so I figured I would go the same thing to support her. I needed a new 'do anyway.

"I still don't recognize myself."

Coolman used Al Gooden as inspiration as the New Haven boys coach as been sporting a clean-shaven head for years.

"He wears it well, so I figured I might as well go that way," Coolman said of Gooden.

The game wasn't a close shave as the Bulldogs pulled away from the Bruins for a 52-40 win.
