Union Chapel to open at Auburn after construction

The intersection of Union Chapel and Auburn roads is to reopen about noon Wednesday, weather permitting, after a long construction project, the Indiana Department of Transportation said today.

The intersection was closed in mid-August to begin construction of a roundabout and approaches from all four directions for traffic control, the transportation department said in a statement.

Surface paving, lighting and landscaping remain to be done in the spring, the statement said. In the meantime, it said, drivers can use the intersection during the winter.

In its statement, INDOT thanked its contractor and subcontractors, Allen County and its own project supervisors and crew for working extra hours that allowed the intersection to open earlier than anticipated.
