White House counsel sticking around until spring
By NEDRA PICKLERAssociated Press
The White House said in September that Kathryn Ruemmler planned to leave by the end of the year to go into private practice in New York. But White House officials say that after speaking with the president, Ruemmler agreed to stay until spring.
Ruemmler is one of Obama's top aides, a member of his national security team and advises him on a wide range of issues, including counterterrorism and judicial appointees.
The 42-year-old former prosecutor has worked for the administration since Obama's first day in office and has been Obama's top lawyer since 2011.
