COSTA DO SAUIPE, Brazil (AP) – Pots announced Tuesday by FIFA for Friday’s World Cup draw. Each of the eight first-round groups will include one nation from each pot. The draw will begin with one team from Pot 4 selected to move to Pot 2, leaving each pot with eight nations. No more than one team from a region may be in the same group, except for Europe, which may have two have two teams in a group.
Pot 1 (seeds): Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Uruguay
Pot 2 (South America, Africa): Chile, Ecuador; Algeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria
Pot 3 (CONCACAF, Asia): Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, United States; Australia, Iran, Japan, South Korea
Pot 4 (non-seeded Europe): Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, England, France, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia
