Sort of awesome

In discussing how popular this video from the Komets' 4-2 victory over Florida was Saturday -- click here to see it -- a co-worker drew my attention to this cool photo from the archives.

It was taken by Dailey Fogle in 1979 at Memorial Coliseum.

  • Only one of the Komets games this weekend will be on MyTV Fort Wayne -- Saturday at Reading, Penn.
  • I have to admit, I was amused by the CHL's announcement of an expansion plan that includes no plan: Click here.
  • As for the potential of Brian Gratz becoming an assistant coach with the Komets, I think it's a great idea. First of all, I have long thought he'll be a good coach if he gets in the right situation. Dayton and Bloomington, well, those haven't been jobs I would exactly recommend to friends. Plus, I think Gary Graham needs an assistant, if for no other reason, as a buffer between the players and the head coach. And since Graham and Gratz know each other well, I think it's a good fit. I know, I know, you are wondering why, if they didn't have an assistant, didn't they hire Colin Chaulk? Well, first of all, as I said at the time, that would have been uncomfortable for all involved, since Chaulk wanted the head job. And I'm not convinced the two of them would have worked great together. And I don't even know if Chaulk would have wanted to be an assistant here.
