Reports: Purdue lands 3-star linebacker

JaWhaun Bentley, a 2014 linebacker out of DeMatha (Md.) Catholic in Maryland, committed to Purdue, according to reports from Rivals.com and Scout.com.

Bentley is a three-star recruit according to the 247Composite, a service from 247Sports.com that aggregates the rankings of ESPN.com, Rivals, Scout and 247Sports into one consensus ranking.

The 6-foot-2, 245-pound prospect had West Virginia and Syracuse among his finalists and also sported offers from Iowa, Maryland, Rutgers and a host of smaller programs.

Bentley is the 11th commitment of the 2014 class for Purdue and the fourth defensive player to pledge to the Boilermakers. He becomes the fifth-highest rated player in coach Darrell Hazell's class.
