Notre Dame senior looks forward to finishing near home

SOUTH BEND – Notre Dame linebacker Carlo Calabrese is ready to finish his career on his home turf. Or at least, near it.

The senior from Verona, N.J., said Sunday he grew up 20 minutes from Yankee Stadium, where the No. 25 Irish (8-4) will play Rutgers (6-6) in the Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 28.

"I'm just excited that a bunch of my friends and family could come to this game," Calabrese said.

Calabrese said about 20 people came to Notre Dame's first game in the new Yankee Stadium in 2010 to watch him, and he expects even more of his family and friends to be there this time.

"Probably a little higher because it's my last game," Calabrese said. "It's not going to distract me from getting ready for Rutgers."
