College basketball preview: North Dakota State at Notre Dame

Key matchup: Notre Dame and North Dakota State each have an efficient big man, who is second on the team in scoring. Sherman, a 6-foot-11 senior center, is averaging 14.6 points for the Irish and is knocking down 53.7 percent of his shots. Sherman had 14 points and 13 rebounds in a 70-59 win over Bryant on Monday and had 19 points in an 80-75 win over Delaware on Saturday. Marshall Bjorklund, a 6-8 senior forward, averages 14 points and his 69.7 percent shooting percentage is the third best in the nation. Bjorklund hit 60 percent of his shots for 15 points in the Bison’s last game, a 66-62 win over Bryant on Saturday

The skinny: This is Notre Dame’s third game in the Gotham Classic, which it will finish with a game against Ohio State on Dec. 21 in Madison Square Garden. The Irish defeated Delaware and Bryant in the first two games of the Classic. … North Dakota State is playing its second game of the Classic after defeating Bryant in its first game. … Notre Dame leads the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.06 and is second in the nation in assists per game with 19.9. … The Irish and Bison are playing each other for the first time.
