Embach, Martine come from Gwinnett

The Komets acquired forward Mike Embach and defenseman Nathan Martine in a trade Thursday with the Gwinnett Gladiators for forward Bobby Hughes, defenseman Rob Kwiet and the rights to forward Brett Lyon.

Embach, 25, appeared in five games with Cincinnati before he was traded to Gwinnett. The left winger had six goals and 10 points 11 games with the Gladiators. Embach played in college at Ferris State of the CCHA where he before making his pro debut in the AHL in 2010-11 with Texas. The Orland Park, Ill., native made his ECHL debut in 2011-12 with the Chicago Express before posting a career year with Cincinnati last season scoring 18 goals and 34 points in 55 games.

Embach has 37 goals, 35 assists and 72 points in 131 games.

Martine, 25, is in his second pro season after playing six games with Reading in the ECHL. The Port Colbourne, Ontario native played five seasons of juniors in the OHL from 2004-05 to 2008-09.

Martine made his college debut with the University of Guelph in the OUAA in 2009-10. The defenseman playedd 16 games this season with Gwinnett.

Hughes scored five goals, nine points and 12 penalty minutes in

12 games with the Komets while Kwiet registered seven assists and 10 penalty minutes in 20 games.

Lyon played in four games with Bakersfield before the Komets acquired him in a trade for cash Nov. 17. Lyon played three games with the Komets before being placed on suspension Nov 25.
