Sitts, Matthew

Marine Lance Corporal Matthew Sitts recently graduated as an instrumentalist from the Music Basic Course at the Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach, Va.

This course provides entry-level training to qualify sailors and Marines for careers as military musicians in their respective service. Upon completion, graduates receive their bandsman designation and are assigned to their first fleet or field band in locations throughout the United States and abroad.

During this 21-week period, emphasis is placed on individual instrumental performances. Students attend daily wind and jazz ensembles, drill bands and small chamber ensembles to adequately train their skills with classroom and private instruction.

Sitts, the son of Ricky Sitts and Brenda Railsback, both of Mentone, is a 2004 graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School, Akron, Ind.
