DETROIT – Daniel Alfredsson scored two goals, including a power-play score at 1:03 of overtime, and the Detroit Red Wings earned a 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames on Thursday night.
The win snapped Detroits six-game losing streak (0-4-2) and five-game home losing streak.
Alfredsson added an assist, and Joakim Andersson also scored for Detroit. Pavel Datsyuk had three assists, Niklas Kronwall had two assists. Jonas Gustavsson made 20 saves.
Mikael Backlund and Mark Giordano scored for Calgary. Mike Cammalleri had two assists, and Karri Ramo stopped 35 shots.
Alfredssons winner came on a one-time slapshot from the inside edge of the left circle for his ninth goal. He also got his 700th assist earlier in the game.
Giordanos power-play goal tied it at 2 for Calgary at 15:53 of the second period. He beat Gustavsson with a shot from the high slot just after a two-man Flames advantage ended.
Andersson gave the Red Wings a 2-1 lead with 8:22 left in the second when his shot deflected in off his skate. It was Anderssons fifth goal.
Alfredsson opened the scoring just 26 seconds into the game when he put in a loose puck from the slot for his eighth goal.
Backlund tied it at 5:11 with his fifth goal. He flipped in the puck after it caromed off the end boards.
FLYERS 5, BLUE JACKETS 4: In Philadelphia, Claude Giroux scored the tying and winning goals in the final minutes of the third period as Philadelphia rallied.
Giroux scored two of the Flyers five third-period goals as Philadelphia stormed back from a 3-0 hole.
PENGUINS 5, WILD 2: In Pittsburgh, Chris Kunitz scored his 19th goal, and Sidney Crosby had two assists as Pittsburgh won its sixth straight.
Rookie defenseman Olli Maatta sealed the Penguins win when he scored on a third-period penalty shot.
SABRES 4, BRUINS 2: In Buffalo, N.Y., Drew Stafford scored the winning goal in the third period, and Ryan Miller made 34 saves as Buffalo won consecutive games for the first time since Nov. 15.
LIGHTNING 4, PREDATORS 2: In Tampa, Fla., goaltender Anders Lindback won in his first game against his former team, and Alex Killorn had a goal and an assist to lead Tampa Bay.
Lindback stopped six shots, including a pair of quality chances by David Legwand, during a two-minute stretch late in the first period. Tampa Bay acquired Lindback in a trade with Nashville on June 15, 2012.
MAPLE LEAFS 2, COYOTES 1, SO: In Toronto, James van Riemsdyk and Joffrey Lupul scored in the shootout as Toronto won for just the second time in seven games.
PANTHERS 4, SENATORS 2: In Ottawa, Ontario, Tom Gilbert and Tomas Kopecky scored in the final three minutes as Florida won its fifth straight.
BLUES 5, CANADIENS 1: In St. Louis, Alexander Steen scored twice, and Jaroslav Halak made 25 saves as St. Louis ended a two-game losing streak and improved to 14-3-2 at home.
STARS 4, CANUCKS 1: In Dallas, Jamie Benn and Colton Sceviour scored goals 15 seconds apart in the first period to lead Dallas .
