Rosters set for first Volleyball Showcase

Event will also feature clinic for youngsters

– The rosters have been set for Sunday’s inaugural All-Northeast Indiana Volleyball Showcase, which will be played at the SportONE/Parkview Fieldhouse.

Two 10-player All-Star high school teams will play in a best-of-five sets format, with each set to 25 points and the fifth and deciding set to 15 points.

The East team consists of Bellmont’s Holly and Bailee Hankenson and Janaya Wilder, Woodlan’s Tori Bontrager and Burgundy Price, Blackhawk Christian’s Marta Bleed and Jen Timbrook, Adams Central’s Madi Schwartz and Abby Snyder and home-schooled player Naarah Foster.

The North team consists of Concordia’s Tionna Williams, Dejour Young and Erica Shively, Carroll’s Jackie Quade, Kate Novack and Remy Swoverland, North Side’s Julia Bursova, DeKalb’s Hayley Martin, Bishop Luers’ MacKenzie North and West Noble’s Kelsie Peterson.

Olympic gold medalist Lloy Ball and Saint Francis women’s coach Fabiana Souza-Shields will coach the two teams.

The players were comprised from The Journal Gazette’s All-Northeast Indiana first and second teams, as well as the honorable mention list.

A Rising Stars Clinic for third- to eighth-grade players will be held before the Classic from 4 to 6 p.m. at the fieldhouse for $20. The cost includes admission to the showcase. Access Fort Wayne TV is recording the match and then airing it on tape-delay.
