Stewart museum looks up

For a time it looked like the Jimmy Stewart Museum wasn’t going to make it.

It’s in the actor’s hometown of Indiana, Pa., far from Los Angeles, where more tourists would see it. And many fans who grew up during the era of Stewart’s films are cutting back on travel.

But as the word got out about the museum’s plight, donations began coming in, adverting a crisis at least for the next few years.

Museum Director Timothy Harley says a San Diego couple originally from western Pennsylvania began making yearly $25,000 donations, matching what the Stewart family gives.

The museum highlights the movie career of Stewart, who starred in the 1947 Christmas classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” It also highlights his service as a World War II bomber pilot.

Tying the knot

•“Glee” actress Dot-Marie Jones married longtime girlfriend Bridgett Casteen on Saturday, a spokesperson for the couple told People.com.

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union are engaged.

The Miami Heat star proposed to his longtime girlfriend Saturday and the actress accepted. They announced the news through social media.

It will be the second marriage for both Union, 41, and Wade, who turns 32 next month. No date has been announced.

The couple have been together for several years and there were recent indications that marriage was in the plans – specifically how their Christmas cards had a return address sticker calling them the “Wade-Union Family.”

‘Katie’ to end

Katie Couric is calling it quits on her weekday syndicated talk show as she heads to Yahoo.

Couric and producer The Walt Disney Co. said last week the “Katie” show will wrap after this season. They say shuttering the show after its second season was a mutual decision.

“Katie” will continue to air through next summer.

Couric announced last month she’s joining Yahoo to anchor an expansion of its video news initiative.
