Convicted murderer accused in attack on jail officer

FORT WAYNE – The officer who was assaulted at the Allen County Jail on Wednesday, Quinton Greer, remains in the hospital and is in serious but stable condition, according to a statement issued Thursday by the Allen County Sheriff's Department.

The inmate accused of assaulting Greer is Deadrian Boykins, 18, who was sentenced to the maximum of 65 years in prison Friday on a murder charge for gunning down 17-year-old Elijah Freeman earlier this year.

Boykins is being charged with battery to a law enforcement officer, a class C felony, the sheriff's department said.

Greer has been an officer for three years.
