Meth arrest in Steuben County

A man wanted on a warrant for failure to appear for a court hearing now faces new charges, accused of making meth near Silver Lake.

Just before midnight Wednesday Steuben County Sheriff’s deputies and officers from the Angola Police Department went to a home in the 4300 block of west U.S. 20 in Steuben County’s rural Pleasant Township, looking for David J. Zervos, 32, who was wanted out of Steuben County on the warrant.

The sheriff’s department said they found him and smelled a strong chemical odor. Getting a search warrant, the department reports that several items commonly associated with making of methamphetamine were found.

Zervos was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and was being held without bond pending an initial court appearance.

The sheriff’s office was also assisted by the Angola Fire Department, Indiana Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division and the Indiana State Police Meth Suppression Section’s Clandestine Lab Team.
