Body of Elkhart soldier headed back to N. Indiana

– The body of an Army soldier from Elkhart who was killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan is headed back to northern Indiana.

The Elkhart Truth reports (http://bit.ly/1fKFkmi) the body of Staff Sgt. Jesse Williams is scheduled to arrive at South Bend Regional Airport at 9 a.m. Friday. Williams and five other soldiers died when a Black Hawk UH-60 helicopter went down Dec. 17 during a mission in Zabul province.

After arriving in South Bend, the body will be taken to Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart.

The visitation for Williams is scheduled for 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 2 at Granger Community Church in Mishawaka. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Jan. 3 at Granger Community Church. His body will be buried at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.
