Dad faces felony over broken arm of son, 14

According to court documents, Jhonny Young broke his son’s arm this month because the 14-year-old had gotten in trouble in school.

Now Young, 42, is charged with felony battery, accused of body slamming the boy to the ground and punching him in the face Dec. 18.

According to court documents, a woman went to Young’s home to pick up her 2-year-old son. When she arrived, she saw the teenager bleeding from the nose, with other visible and invisible injuries.

As she tried to help the boy, Young continued to engage him in a fight.

The 14-year-old boy said he brought home paperwork from school documenting some trouble he got into. When he showed Young, Young followed him up to his bedroom and told him they were “going to fight.”

The teen refused, so Young picked him up, slammed him into the ground, breaking his arm, according to court documents.

The boy went downstairs, and Young followed him, hitting him in the nose and the eyes with his hand, causing a bloody nose. When police arrived, the boy’s eyes were blackening with bruises, according to court documents.

Three other children were in the house at the time of the incident, according to court documents.

Young, of the 3000 block of South Harrison Street, is charged with battery causing serious bodily injury, and battery causing injury against the same victim.

In 2010, Young was charged with beating the same son.

He was given probation and a suspended prison sentence, according to court records.
