Will Rutherford report?

The Komets are unsure if David Rutherford is going to report, team president Michael Franke said, adding it's a negotiation.

The Komets acquired Rutherford and future considerations from Orlando on Saturday, in exchange for Fort Wayne's top goal scorer, Mickey Lang.

Rutherford's options are skate for the Komets or move to another league, such as the CHL or one in Europe. But if he wants to play in the ECHL, the Komets will have to come to an agreement with him (and maybe more money will make that happen) or trade him.

Another big question is this: If Rutherford doesn't report, can Lang play for Orlando? Or is the deal voided?

Best guess is that the deal stands and Lang can play for the Solar Bears, all because Fort Wayne is owed future considerations. Those futures will just become bigger.

Komets and Gwinnett are still tied at 1 in the second period at Memorial Coliseum, by the way.
