Carroll stuns Marion to win Shootout title

After upsetting undefeated No.14 Mooresville (8-1) on Saturday morning, Carroll defeated No. 9 Marion 67-61 in its own Shootout on Saturday night.

Chandler White scored 24 points for the Chargers (6-3) in the championship game, after scoring 22 against Mooresville earlier in the day. Jeremy Kalonji had 12 points and 13 assists against Marion.

The Giants (5-3) were led by ex-Bishop Luers standout James Blackmon Jr. who scored a game-high 27 points.

Boys basketball

BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 68, EAST NOBLE 54: At the Carroll Shootout, Wes Davidson led the Braves with 25 points and 12 rebounds, and Joe Morlan with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

East Noble (0-8) was led by Brandon Nichols who scored 24 points.

HOMESTEAD 78, DEKALB 32: At the Carroll Shootout, Lucas Tapp had 16 points, Ben Skowronek scored 15, and Caleb Swanigan added 14 for the Spartans.

The Barons (3-8) were led by Tanner Moore and Daulton Daub who scored 10 points each.

MUNSTER 78, HUNTINGTON NORTH 49: At the Carroll Shootout, the Mustangs saw five players score in the double-digits in their win.

The Vikings were led by Kyle Platt who scored 28 points.

Girls basketball

GARRETT 49, NORWELL 45: At Garrett, Brandi Dawson scored 23 points to help the No. 4 Railroaders keep their record untarnished, rising to 12-0.

No. 9 Norwell (6-3) was led by Kaylee Roller and Stephanie Conrad who scored 17 points each.
