Firefighter falls through floor at north-side blaze

FORT WAYNE – A Fort Wayne firefighter fell through the floor Monday morning while fighting a blaze at a house on the city’s north side.

The fire department said he was evaluated and returned to work.

The house at 10722 Windsor Woods Blvd. had heavy damage.

Crews were called to the house about 9:15 a.m. after neighbors called about smoke coming from the eaves. When they arrived, firefighters searched and found that no one was at home.

Efforts to fight the flames were hampered, the department said, by a number of storage boxes and belongings inside.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
