    Fort Wayne went without a 90-degree day in August for the second consecutive year, the first time that has happened since recordkeeping began in 1912, the National Weather Service said today.

    Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop late this afternoon and evening, primarily west of Interstate 69, the National Weather Service said today.

Winter weather advisory extended

More snow expected this afternoon, into Thursday

The National Weather Service has extended its winter weather advisory, predicting a new round of snow from this afternoon to Thursday afternoon.

Areas north and west of Allen County are expected to get 2 to 5 inches of additional snow, the weather service said. Some of those areas already have 2 or 3 inches on the ground, it said.

Areas south of Allen County are expected to get 3 to 5 inches of additional snow, the weather service said. An area including Mercer County, Ohio, is expected to get 2 to 4 inches, with locally higher amounts.

Snow totals

These snow totals were reported to the National Weather Service early today:

  • 3.2 inches -- LaGrange;
  • 3 inches -- Syracuse;
  • 2.4 inches -- Weather service office near North Webster;
  • 2 inches -- Near Leesburg.
