Auburn power outage affects thousands

Many in Auburn were without power Monday evening when a substation ran into problems.

Indiana Michigan Power spokesman Tracy Warner said the company is a wholesaler of electricity for the city of Auburn, which then distributes that electricity.

A substation in Auburn went out at about 6:35 p.m., he said.

Stuart Tuttle, director of the Auburn Electric Department, said a breaker trip caused the outage and that workers were hustling to restore electricity.

The company provides power for about 7,200 residents he said.
