Area counties reporting roads improving

Officials in LaGrange and Steuben counties have suspended their travel watches, saying residents should be alert to changing conditions but no travel restrictions are in place.

In a statement, Steuben Sheriff Tim R. Troyer said road surfaces in the county are all ice- and snow-packed and continue to be rough and bumpy, making traction difficult.

Motorists who have to travel, he said, should drive more slowly than normal, give themselves plenty of travel time and leave a greater distance between vehicles and at intersections to be able to stop properly.
