The Komets suffered another overtime loss Saturday to the Kalamazoo Wings. And they lost another goaltender.
Center Justin Taylor scored 25 seconds into overtime to give the Wings a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over the Komets in front of 2,915 fans at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Its the second time in the last three games that the Wings defeated the Komets in overtime, while also knocking out a Fort Wayne goalie.
Andrey Makarov left in the second period of Wednesdays 3-2 loss because he suffered a head injury when he was crashed into by Taylor. Makarov has missed two games since then.
Ben Meisner had stopped all 27 shots hed faced Saturday before he went behind the net to play the puck and got tripped up by Chris Lawrence, who cross-checked Meisner in the back of the head/shoulder area as he fell. Meisner got a penalty for delay of game. Lawrence got nothing.
Max Strang, who has spent most of the season in the Southern Professional Hockey League, replaced Meisner and stopped 9 of 11 shots in 21:15. He allowed the game-tying goal to former Komets player Matt Firman at 14:37 of the third period.
The Komets were without captain Lincoln Kaleigh Schrock, who suffered an eye injury in a fight with Toledos Emerson Clark in a 3-2 Komets road victory Friday.
