The jackknifed semi on I-69 just south of exit 311 blocks traffic in two southbound lanes on Thursday after new snowfall made for slick conditions on the area's roadways.

Update issued shortly after noon Thursday: Fort Wayne-All three southbound lanes of I-69 at exit 311A (Lima Road) are now open. Also, all roads in the greater Fort Wayne area are snow covered and slick. As a result, ISP and local law enforcement are working numerous crashes and slide offs.

Please be vigilant for slowed or stopped traffic and for emergency personnel who are working to clear these affected areas.

Statement as issued at 11:25 a.m. Thursday by Indiana State Police:

Fort Wayne-A jackknifed semi tractor trailer has the left and center lanes of southbound I-69 at exit 311A (Lima Road) closed at this time. The far right lane is open and traffic is making its way slowly through the area.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area and seek an alternate route of travel. Also, all roadways in the greater Fort Wayne area are snow covered and very slick. As a result, ISP and local law enforcement are working numerous crashes and slide offs.
