North Side senior linebacker D'Marcus Moon committed to Eastern Michigan on Sunday after making an official visit to the Mid-American Conference school.
"It was the place I truly wanted to be," Moon wrote in a Facebook message. "The love I felt from the current players was unbelievable.
"My walk with EMU will be a story to tell. I have the opportunity to have an impact my freshman year, obtain a stellar education and represent EMU in the community. We all have a great opportunity to walk this road together as a family."
The 6-foot-1, 225-pound Moon led the Redskins to the conference championship last year.
Moon spent his first three years at Bishop Dwenger at running back.
Drake Creighton will be in his first season coaching the Eagles after Ron English was fired with three games left last season after going 12-48 in five years with the program.
English was fired after a recording of an outburst toward his players was made public.
"Coach Creighton has the passion and energy to truly turn things around at Eastern Michigan," Moon wrote. "With the staff he is hiring around himself, EMU is destined for success. In addition, it was an honor for me to be Coach Creighton's first commitment. This commitment was about choosing my family for the next four years."
