Acts of kindness encouraged in wake of shootings

– A northern Indiana man is encouraging people to commit two random acts of kindness in honor of the two women who were fatally shot at a grocery store in Elkhart.

Mike Bailey tells The Elkhart Truth (http://bit.ly/1bgTvfc) that even though he didn’t know 20-year-old Krystle Dikes and 44-year-old Rachelle Godfread, he still felt a personal loss from the shootings at the Martin’s Super Market on Jan. 15. Police then fatally shot the gunman, 22-year-old Shawn Bair.

Bailey started an “Elkhart Strong” Facebook page that has generated nearly 7,000 likes. An effort to sell T-shirts to raise funds for the victims’ families also has been started.

Bailey says he’s surprised by the interest his effort has received. He says it shows there is a lot of care in the community.
